The Zimbabwe Republic Police has named more than 1,200 vehicles that were captured violating red traffic lights in Harare’s Central Business District. The announcement was made in an official press statement dated October 3, 2025, and signed by Commissioner Paul Nyathi, Chief Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations) to the Commissioner-General of Police. Owners of the listed vehicles have been instructed to report to the nearest police station within seven days from the date of the notice.
Introducing the directive, Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that the vehicles were identified through the Electronic Traffic Management System and urged the public to cooperate fully. He stated:
“All the vehicle owners with registration numbers on the attached list are advised to report at any nearest Police Station to assist in the ongoing investigations within the next seven days. Vehicle owners and those in possession of the vehicles are urged to cooperate with the police to assist in the maintenance of law and order in the country.”
In the same statement, Commissioner Nyathi cautioned motorists to respect traffic laws in order to ease congestion and prevent crashes in the city centre. He said:
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores motorists to observe road rules and regulations to enhance the smooth flow of traffic and curb road traffic accidents.”
