BLACKIE, THE CHEGUTU MAN WITH FIVE NAMES, GETS 100 YEARS FOR RAPE, THEFT, ROBBERIES
A SERIAL housebreaker, thief, rapist and robber, who uses various names, has been sentenced to 100 years in jail.
Isah Siyabu goes by five different names – Blackie, Innocent Kajira, Anold Pemhiwa, Enock Kajira and Issah Chikazamba – and is from Pfupajena in Chegutu.
In a statement, ZRP CID Acting provincial spokesperson, Detective Assistant Inspector Merylin Muriro, said Isah had been targeting Borrowdale and Mt Pleasant residents.
“The ZRP confirm the conviction and sentencing of Isah Siyabu of Chegutu for multiple counts of unlawful entry in aggravating circumstances, rape, robbery and theft,” said Det Ass-Insp Muriro.
“In February 2024, Isah who uses a number of pseudo names, was arrested in Chegutu after information was received that he terrorised Borrowdale and Mt Pleasant areas, committing unlawful entry cases.
“A thorough investigation was done which established that he used to scale over precast walls to gain entry into the yard and would then break the doors to gain entry.
“A number of properties were targeted including cash, televisions, laptops, clothing, shoes, cellphones, among others.
“In some instances, the convict raped complainants without protection.
“In three of the cases, he also threatened his victims with knives and stole cash and various clothing,” said Det Ass-Insp Muriro.
Following his arrest, Isah appeared before the courts on several occasions and was finally convicted and sentenced on October 10 this year.
He appeared at Harare Magistrate Court before Magistrate Mrs Loice Mukunyadze.
For the 25 counts (19 counts of unlawful entry in aggravating circumstances, two counts of rape, three counts of robbery and one count of theft) the accused person was sentenced to 100 years imprisonment.
Ten years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Another 40 years were also suspended for various reasons and he will serve an effective 50 years in prison.
