Ti Gonzi Fails To Appear In Court
Harare regional magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka on Wednesday issued a warrant for the arrest of local rapper Ti Gonzi, whose real name is Tinashe Gonzara, after he failed to appear in court.
Ti Gonzi is a witness in a fraud case in which he claims that Walter Magaya’s security aide, Felix Chikondo, sold him a smuggled vehicle.
The complainant in the case is the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), represented by revenue supervisor Collin Ncube.
According to the State, Chikondo smuggled a Japanese Toyota Mark X between July and August 2025.
He allegedly secured the vehicle at the Yadah Hotel car park in Waterfalls, Harare, and used registration details from a car belonging to Dumisani Dube to fraudulently obtain new number plates.
Chikondo reportedly applied for the plates through the CID Vehicle Theft Squad in Harare and hired a car clearing agent, Andrew Musoni, to submit the documents to the Central Vehicle Registry.
The plates, AGS 2550, were issued in Dube’s name and given to Chikondo, who paid Musoni US$50. Chikondo then fitted the plates to the smuggled Toyota and sold it to Ti Gonzi for US$5,000.
The vehicle was later seized by the Vehicle Theft Squad on 7 January in Mbare while being driven by Ti Gonzi, who was informed that the car had been smuggled and bore false plates.
Investigations revealed that the car had no record of import, clearance, or duty payment with ZIMRA, resulting in an unpaid import duty of US$3,389.55.
Ti Gonzi first saw the vehicle on 29 August last year when he visited Eastlea Car Sales garage.
There, car dealer Jarmine Rubatika directed him to the Yadah Hotel car park, where Chikondo showed him the Toyota Mark X, which Ti Gonzi then purchased in full.
