Wings Of Development: China Pumps Life Into Shamva Farms.

Shamva – A China Aid Project is revolutionizing the lives of residents in Zindi Village, Shamva, through a range of initiatives including a poultry project, borehole drilling, diptank construction, and provision of tap water to all households.

The project, led by Chinese agricultural expert Zhao Ke, is a game-changer for the community. “We’re not just improving agriculture, we’re empowering people,” said Zhao Ke. “With modern techniques and infrastructure, these farmers can increase yields, diversify income streams, and build resilience.”

The poultry project has already benefited over 50 households, providing them with 2000 road runners chicks and 250 broilers, as well as training on poultry management. Meanwhile, the drilling of boreholes and construction of a diptank have improved access to clean water and livestock health services.

“Tap water in every household is a huge relief,” said Headman Waveson Zindi . “It’ll save women hours of fetching water, allowing them to focus on other activities.”

Headman expressed gratitude for the project. “This is development we can see and touch. Our people are benefiting, and we’re thankful to our Chinese friends for their support.”

The project aligns with Zimbabwe’s development goals and strengthens ties between Zimbabwe and China.

In January, the project is set to dispatch 1200 chicks to local farmers, further boosting production. But what’s even cooler is that some farmers are already feeding their own chicks – it’s a self-sustaining circle.

“The project is empowering us to be more self-sufficient,” said local Agritex officer, Philimon Mukova. “With the chicks and training, farmers can increase income and improve food security.”

“This partnership with China is bringing real change. Our people are benefiting big time,” added Headman Waveson Zindi

Chinese agricultural expert Zhao Ke added, “It’s a win-win. Farmers get skills and resources, and the community grows stronger.”
