Five Dead, Fifteen Injured In Two Crashes On Harare–Bulawayo Road

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed two fatal road traffic accidents on the Harare–Bulawayo Road on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, leaving a total of five people dead and fifteen injured.

The first accident occurred around 1:30 pm at the 288 km peg. A Toyota Hilux carrying five passengers, travelling towards Bulawayo, was involved in a head-on collision with a Nissan X-Trail coming from the opposite direction with five passengers on board. Three people died in the crash, while eight others sustained injuries.

Earlier the same day, at approximately 6:30 am, a second deadly crash happened at the 364 km peg. A Toyota Hiace with nine passengers, also heading towards Bulawayo, suffered a tyre burst. The vehicle veered off the road, overturned, and came to rest on its side. Two people died on the spot, and seven others were injured.

The bodies of the victims from both accidents have been taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals for postmortem examinations, police said.
