Unemployed man from Gokwe sentenced to five years in jail for having sex three times with an under-age girl in a maize field

Gokwe Regional Magistrates’ Court has convicted Alfred Siapungu, a 30-year-old unemployed man from Village 12 Mayo Range, for engaging in sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old minor from a neighboring village.

In November 2025, Siapungu initiated contact with the young girl and subsequently exploited her by engaging in unprotected sexual intercourse in a maize field.

The situation escalated with two further encounters at the same location on December 12, 2025.

The disturbing events came to light on December 26, 2025, when the minor’s brother questioned her about the incidents.

Following this, her mother escorted her to Kwekwe Rural Police Station to report the matter formally.

An official report was recorded on December 29, 2025, at 3:00 PM, and the survivor was referred to Kwekwe General Hospital for a medical examination.

Siapungu pleaded guilty to the charges of sexual intercourse with a minor. He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
