HOOLIGANS DISRUPT CHEGUTU PIRATES AGM
By Innocent Muchochomi in Chegutu
Disorderly behaviour by unruly fans disrupted Chegutu Pirates Football Club’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday at Welfare Centre, ultimately preventing any elections from taking place.
The AGM included an agenda item to elect a new Executive Board to lead the Pirates this season. However, intoxicated hooligans, verbally assaulting attendees, caused the meeting to end without any resolutions. At the end of the meeting, the house appointed Tapiwa Ngara and Ronald Makaza to oversee proceedings while a new date is scheduled to determine the way forward.
The violent conduct by known troublemakers has hindered this season’s preparations, leaving Pirates without a coach and still assembling a team.
These hooligans, seemingly immune to arrest, were also the primary reason Pirates were fined over US$ 10,000 during their brief stint in the Premier Soccer League in 2024.
