Graphic details of Anymore Zvitsva’s rape, murder emerge as State adds more charges

Graphic details surrounding Guruve suspected serial killer, Anymore Zvitsva emerged yesterday as he appeared in court where the State added five more charges.
On his initial appearance, Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo convened court on his hospital bed at Parirenyatwa Hospital.
Yesterday, he limped his way into court from remand prison where he is now housed after being discharged from hospital.
On the fresh allegations, prosecutors alleged that on March 25 last year at Plot 43 Nyakanupu, Guruve, Zvitsva went to the late Charity Chidhawu’s residence where he found her at home in the company of her daughter and two-year old son.
Zvitsva was allegedly armed with a machete.
He forcibly marched the 20-year- old mother and her toddler into a thicket within the Nyakapupu mountain area, which is approximately one kilometre away from the homestead.
On arrival in the thicket, he allegedly tied Chidhawu to a tree and killed her using a machete.
After killing her, Zvitsva dug a shallow pit, mutilated the body by cutting the limps to make it fit and buried her.
After burying her, he then killed Chidhawu’s son using a machete, dug another shallow pit and buried him.
On another charge, the court heard that on September 24 last year, Zvitsva met Tariro Gotora as she was herding cattle along Hunyani River, in Chiwe Village, Raffingora.
She was carrying a toddler on her back.
Zvitsva, who was armed with a machete and a snare wire, allegedly instructed Gotora to remove the baby from her back and throw him into Chisanga river and she complied.
After throwing the baby into the river, Gotora was dragged into a nearby bush where Zvitsva raped her.
After raping her, Zvitsva strangled her with a snare wire then dragged her to Hunyani river and threw her in the water and left.
In another count, the court heard that on October 9, the complainant Providence Maruza 27 was sleeping in her room at Ditwi Village, Chiwe Farm, Raffingora and her door was unlocked.
Zvitsva, who was armed with an Okapi knife and a snare wire, pushed the door open and gained entry into the room.
While inside, he threatened to kill Maruza if ever she screamed then tied her on both hands and legs using a wire and dragged her towards the thicket of Dangemuri mountains where he raped her once.
After the act he stabbed her once on the back and neck and left the scene.
On October 27, Zvitsva while armed with a machete, broke into Reginet Sango’s homestead at Mudhindo Village, Chief Bepura, Kachuta, Guruve.
Sango 62, was fetching water at a local borehole. Zvitsva produced the machete from his jacket and demanded sex.
She attempted to flee into nearby bushes, but Zvitsva pursued and caught up with her, whereupon he struck her once on the head and once on the left arm with the machete, causing her to fall down. He then raped her once without protection, thereafter strangled her with a wire around the neck, and left her unconscious at the scene.
On October 27, Zvitsva attacked Brian Ngoshi, who was walking on foot from Kachuta Business Centre going home.
Zvitsva was armed with a machete, which he used to strike the complainant twice on the head, causing him to fall onto the road.
He then strangled Ngoshi with a wire around the neck until he lost consciousness. Thereafter, he searched him and stole one cigarette lighter and one packet of Madison cigarettes.
Zvitsva left Ngoshi unconscious at the scene and the victim was later assisted by a passerby who alerted his aunt.
Zvitsva was remanded in custody to February 3 and was advised to approach the High Court for bail considerations. *_-H-Metro_*
