Karoi – Allied Tobacco Farmers 4ED will hold a highly anticipated field day on Friday, 30 January, at Mr. Chadzera’s farm in Tengwe, Mashonaland West. The event promises to showcase best practices in tobacco farming and provide a platform for knowledge exchange among farmers, stakeholders, and industry experts.

This upcoming field day is set to be the second biggest tobacco field day after the one held early January in Macheke, Mashonaland East, highlighting its significance in the agricultural calendar.

National Chairperson Jesina Mangwiro confirmed the preparations, stating, “We are excited to host this field day, which is part of our national program to reach all 10 provinces. It’s an opportunity for farmers to learn, network, and witness innovations in tobacco production.”

Mangwiro expressed gratitude to Jimayi Muduvuri, the organisation’s patron, for his unwavering support. “We appreciate the help from our patron, Jimayi Muduvuri, whose guidance and assistance have been instrumental in making these events possible,” she said.

The field day will feature demonstrations, exhibitions, and interactive sessions with agronomists and partners. Allied Tobacco Farmers 4ED also extended thanks to Agritex and Sub Sahara for their partnership and technical support, which have been crucial to the success of their programs.

Local leadership, including traditional chiefs and Honourable Minister for Mashonaland West, Mariam Chombo, have been acknowledged for their role in mobilizing communities and ensuring the event’s smooth organization.

“All farmers are invited to come and witness the event,” Mangwiro added, emphasizing that the field day is open to everyone interested in tobacco farming and agricultural development.

The Tengwe field day marks the beginning of a series of similar events planned across the country as Allied Tobacco Farmers 4ED continues to empower growers and strengthen Zimbabwe’s tobacco sector.
