Geza, Saruwaka Remains Repatriated
The body of the late war veteran and former ZANU-PF Central Committee member Blessed Rusenu Geza, also known as Comrade Bombshell, is now back in Zimbabwe.
According to Masvingo Mirror, Geza’s remains arrived at Beitbridge Border Post at around 5 am on Saturday, accompanied by a kombi carrying nine bodyguards.
There are reports that border officials insisted on opening the casket, a move that reportedly angered those present.
The funeral procession then travelled to Masvingo and is expected to proceed to Harare before heading to his rural home in Sanyati for burial.
Meanwhile, the body of activist and Geza ally Kudzai Weston Saruwaka, who was allegedly assassinated in exile in South Africa last week, also passed through Beitbridge Border Post on the same morning.
According to Masvingo Mirror, Saruwaka’s body was transported in a Doves hearse, passing through Masvingo at around 8.30 am en route to burial, while Geza’s remains were in a Nyaradzo hearse.
Geza died from cancer at a hospital in South Africa. Two days later, Saruwaka was shot dead in Pretoria.
The two had been working together in opposition to ZANU PF’s plans to amend the Constitution and extend presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years.
