NICAZ Sanyati Cluster Championships Deliver Electrifying Athletics Showcase

The National Independent Colleges Association of Zimbabwe (NICAZ) Sanyati District athletics cluster competitions a success, with the track and field programme unfolding in thrilling fashion at Jameson High School.
The competition, staged under the guidance of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, drew a strong turnout of independent colleges from across Sanyati District, transforming the venue into a hive of sprints, baton exchanges and soaring field events.
Guest of honour, Sanyati District Schools Inspector Joseph Majasi, officially graced the championships and commended the high technical standards on display. He applauded the independent institutions for aligning with government education policy while nurturing sporting excellence.
Four clusters namely Rimuka, Sanyati, City, and Patchway/Chakari , went stride for stride in a tightly contested programme. Producing electrifying finishes, while field events showcased strength and precision.
By the close of competition, 88 athletes had hit qualifying places, booking slots for next week’s training camp ahead of the district finals set for Alaska on 13 March.
NICAZ District chairperson Pastor Luckson Disimasi described the competition as a flawless outing. “We are proud to host a competition of this magnitude with zero injuries. Discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship prevailed. I bless all athletes as they prepare to represent the district and, ultimately, the nation,” he said.
NICAZ provincial sports coordinator Givemore Murehwa heaped praise on cluster leadership for smooth organisation, efficient scheduling and professional officiating, which kept the programme flowing.
Stealing the spotlight was all-rounder Tinashe Mugove of Rotterview group of schools, the undisputed darling of the day, who delivered a golden performance across multiple events, sweeping medals and stamping authority as the competition standout athlete.
With confidence soaring, Sanyati’s finest now shift focus to camp, carrying forward the momentum of a championship that blended discipline, development and pure athletic flair.
