Chegutu repeat offender jailed for theft

The Chegutu Magistrates’ Court has sentenced 44‑year‑old Richard Sikwamba to 36 months in prison for stealing farm equipment. A previously suspended six‑month sentence was activated, bringing his total jail time to 42 months.

The court heard that on 25 February 2026, the complainant received information about a theft at his farm. When he arrived, he discovered that a water tank, a planter and a discharrow had been stolen.

The matter was reported to the police, and investigations led to the recovery of the stolen property at a plot in Selous, where Sikwamba had sold the items. He was subsequently arrested.

The stolen goods, valued at US$600, were all recovered.

Authorities have reminded the public that crime does not pay, urging citizens to pursue lawful means of earning a living rather than resorting to criminality. *_-Bulawayo24_*
