ZRP issues safety alert for return leg of Easter travels
As the 2026 Easter holiday comes to an end, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged members of the public to stay alert when getting out of vehicles on the roads.
In an advisory issued on Easter Monday, the police also urged drivers to stop only at designated bus stops or ranks to allow passengers to safely disembark or get assistance when needed.
“As the Easter Holiday draws to a close, the ZRP urges Zimbabweans to be safety conscious and alert while disembarking from vehicles on the roads for one reason or the other,” reads the police statement.
“Drivers are implored to stop at designated bus stops or ranks to allow passengers to get relief or assistance if requested to do so, and make sure they do not stop along the roads, without giving due consideration to safety.
“This will assist in prioritising the safety of passengers and curb road accidents where pedestrians are struck by motorists after disembarking from stationary vehicles,” police said. *_-Pindula_*
