1 dead, 1 injured in head-on collision at Mutimurefu Prison blackspot

One person was killed and another seriously injured in a head-on collision at a notorious blackspot near the entrance to Mutimurefu Prison, about 25km from Masvingo along the Masvingo-Mutare Highway, at around 7 am on Friday.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been established, though heavy mist reducing visibility to just a few metres is believed to have been a contributing factor.

One of the vehicles involved belonged to Hukuimwe Day Old Chicks. Dead chicks were scattered across the road, while some survivors were stolen by passers-by when The Masvingo Mirror arrived at the scene.

The Hukuimwe vehicle collided with a small car, leaving the latter completely wrecked. The deceased and the injured were travelling in the smaller vehicle. *_-Pindula_*
