Hubby sues wife’s alleged lover for US$300k . . . Wife sues husband’s mistress for US$50k betrayal
A dispute over infidelity claims has turned into a legal war for an 11-year marriage, where the husband is suing his wife’s suspected lover while the wife is also suing the husband’s mistress, with whom he sired a child.
In the High Court of Zimbabwe (case HCHF1395/26), Taremedzwa Manase has filed a US$300,000 adultery claim against Fungai Nota, accusing him of destroying his 11-year marriage with his wife, Dadirai Victoria Manase (nee Fichani).
According to the High Court papers, the husband alleges he not only suspected an affair, but later “heard” and claims that he says left him humiliated, traumatised, and teetering on the edge of losing his home.
While Taremedzwa targets Nota, his wife, Dadirai, has turned around and filed her own adultery suit.
She is suing Kudzanai Chidemo, the lover she says her husband sired a child with, seeking damages totalling US$50,000.
According to the summons filed on March 24, Taremedzwa alleges that sometime in September 2025, Nota, knowing he was married, allegedly entered an adulterous affair with his wife.
The court record further states that around December 2025, Taremedzwa claims he overheard a flirtatious conversation between his wife and Nota over the phone.
When he confronted his wife, she allegedly denied any romantic relationship.
But the suit says Taremedzwa then took matters into his own hands, on March 3, 2026, he installed an anti-car hijack device for security purposes only for the tracker to later become central to his allegations.
He claims that on March 13, 2026, the recorded data showed the two were in an adulterous relationship.
“Upon confrontation,” the summons says, it emerged that Nota and Dadirai Victoria Manase (née Fichani) were involved in what the husband describes as an affair that had been ongoing “for some time”.
Taremedzwa alleges that Nota persisted even after being aware of the marriage.
He argues the conduct was “unlawful and wrongful,” aimed at destroying his dignity and marital life.
“The Defendant’s conduct was unlawful and wrongful, aimed at destroying the Plaintiffs’ dignity and marital relationship.
“The Plaintiff was seriously affected by the discovery of the adulterous relationship to an extent that he lost dignity within his community.
“As a result of the adulterous relationship, the Plaintiff was shocked and the marriage is now facing very serious problems.
“By reason of the matters aforesaid, the Plaintiff has suffered various degrees of trauma, particularised below: –
“i. Plaintiff lost love for his wife and consortium.
“ii. Plaintiff is on the verge of losing his marriage of eleven years.
“iii. The Plaintiff has suffered and still suffers stressful moments, contumelia as a result of the adulterous affair.
iv. The Plaintiff’s legitimate expectation of raising their two children together with his wife has been shattered.
“WHEREFORE Plaintiff claims the following damages:
“a) Payment of a total sum of US$150 000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand United States Dollars) or its equivalent in Zimbabwean Dollars at the prevailing RBZ Bank exchange rate on the date of payment, being damages for loss of consortium.
“b) Payment of US$150 000-00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand United States Dollars) or its equivalent in Zimbabwean Dollars at the prevailing RBZ Bank exchange rate on the date of payment, being damages for loss of contumelia.
“c) Interest at the prescribed rate from the date of issuance of summons, to the date of full and final settlement.
d) Costs of suit.”
While Taremedzwa claims he discovered the alleged affair through tracking and recorded calls, Dadirai’s own summons also centres on alleged persistence and adds a new layer, she says the marriage was meant to be monogamous.
Court papers state that on March 5, 2015, Dadirai married Taremeredzwa under the then Marriages Act, now replaced by the current Marriages Act.
She alleges that from 2021 to date, Chidemo and her husband (Taremedzwa) committed adultery on different occasions and at different places, resulting in the birth of a child in April 2022.
She claims Chidemo knew she was married and “persisted” in the relationship despite being asked to stop adding that the adultery led to the “irretrievable breakdown” of the marriage.
Dadirai says she suffered distress and lost status within her community, and that her business and even her minor children were affected.
“At all times, the Defendant has known that the Plaintiff was married to Taremeredzwa Manase and has persisted in consorting with him despite being asked to desist by the Plaintiff, and the adulterous relationship led to the birth of a child in April 2022.
“The Plaintiff has suffered contumelia and general loss of self-esteem and lost her status in the community.
“She has suffered in her dignity and has been very distressed, and this has affected her business and her minor children.
“The Plaintiff has lost the consortium and society of her husband.
“In consequence of the adultery aforesaid and the alienation by the Defendant of Taremeredzwa Manase’s affections for Plaintiff, Plaintiff has suffered damages for contumelia in the sum of US$25,000.00 (Twenty-Five Thousand United States Dollars), and for the loss of comfort, society and services of Taremeredzwa Manase in the sum of US$25,000.00 (Twenty-Five Thousand United States Dollars).
