I’M A RISK TAKER, SAYS SONGBIRD FELI NANDI
SONGBIRD Feli Nandi says faith and willingness to take risks have helped her keep soaring in an industry where the odds have always been against her.
She transitioned from being a backing vocalist and dancer to becoming her own master and the diva’s career continues to burn a trail of success with each passing day.
The diva, who is in high spirits ahead of her get-together party dubbed “A Night with Feli Nandi,” set for the Harare International Conference Centre on August 14, said she has strong faith in her talent.
“The showbiz scene is not for the faint-hearted, and I keep working hard with each passing day,” she said.
“Each year, I make sure that I hold a solo get-together with fans under the banner ‘A Night with Feli Nandi,’ which has become popular with my fans.
“I have been holding this annual event at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, but due to the popularity of the concept, we have moved to a bigger venue—the Harare International Conference Centre.
“I know that the venue is spacious, but as an artist I am determined to grow, and that is why I have taken that risk.”
The former Mhodzi Tribe backing vocalist, who has made an impression as a solo act, admitted that she is also nervous ahead of this ninth edition.
“To be honest, I am nervous and confident at the same time ahead of the August show.
“To some of you, August might appear to be months away, but to those of us who plan these events, dates tend to move faster than expected.
“I will continue doing my best to ensure that I win new fans,” she said.
Famed for popular sing-along tracks such as “Muti Watemwa,” “Mubayei,” “Nguva,” and “Ndoona Iwe,” among others, Feli Nandi believes God has anointed her to serve His people through song and dance.
“To be honest, it can only be God who has blessed me with this talent, and I will always cherish the good things He has done for me.
“I believe He gave me this special talent to ensure that I entertain millions using my gift.
“I am determined to fully utilise this talent and make sure that we all share this fun.”
Feli Nandi, who has amassed several awards and has featured at high-profile events, vowed to remain grounded despite the fame.
“I will always remain humble, and being the old Feli Nandi people have known, I still let music do the talking as much as I can.
“I respect my fans and everyone who enjoys my music, which is why we keep giving the good music.”
She has interest in fashion, where she promotes her brand known as Vasika Vemarokwe.
She also runs a restaurant serving African delicacies. She is also known for her role in fighting for the rights of the girl child and young women across the country.
