President Mnangagwa Appoints General (Retired) Valerio Philip Sibanda To ZANU PF Politburo
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed retired Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander General (Rtd) Philip Valerio Sibanda to the ZANU PF Politburo with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced by the ruling party, which said Mnangagwa exercised his powers in terms of Article 9, Section 65 as read with Section 67 of the ZANU PF Constitution.
General Sibanda, one of Zimbabwe’s most senior military figures, previously served as Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces before retiring from active military service.
His appointment to the powerful ruling party decision-making body is expected to strengthen his role within the political establishment following years of service in the security sector.
The ZANU PF Politburo is the party’s top policy and administrative organ responsible for implementing decisions and directing party affairs.
