Harare driving instructor dies in crash during learner driver lesson

Tragedy struck after Mr. Mupfururi, the owner and instructor at Legend Driving School, died following a road traffic accident that reportedly occurred while he was conducting a driving lesson with a learner driver.

Details surrounding the accident are still unclear at this stage, and authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident.

Mr. Mupfururi was well known in the community for his work as a driving instructor and for mentoring aspiring motorists through his driving school.

17. *ZIMRA sniffer dogs intercept US$15,000 dagga at Beitbridge*

 

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA)’s K9 Unit has intercepted 15.45kg of dagga worth an estimated US$15,450 at Beitbridge Border Post, the tax authority said on Friday.

The drugs were found on 13 May 2026 during a routine inspection. They had been concealed in food packaging and wrapped goods in an attempt to smuggle them into the country.

ZIMRA said the operation showed the value of vigilance at Zimbabwe’s borders and the role of its K9 Unit in detecting contraband.

“This operation highlights ZIMRA’s continued commitment to safeguarding communities, fighting smuggling and protecting the economy through strong border controls, intelligence-led operations and effective inspection systems,” the authority said in a statement.

Members of the public were reminded that smuggling prohibited or illegal goods is a serious offence.

“ZIMRA teams remain alert and ready to detect concealed contraband at all ports of entry,” the statement said.

Beitbridge is Zimbabwe’s busiest border post and a key transit point for goods and travellers between Zimbabwe and South Africa. *_-Pindula_*
