There will be gnashing of teeth after CAB3 — Chadzamira
Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira has warned party members opposing Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 (CAB3) that there is going to be gnashing of teeth when that process is done and dusted.
Speaking at a Zanu PF Provincial Inter-district Meeting at Clovelly in Masvingo on Saturday, Chadzamira told the gathering that he and the Minister of State for Security, Lovemore Matuke are aware of the political activities of every MP and councilor and secret meetings that are being held to derail the passage of the Bill.
CAB3 if passed will allow President Mnangagwa to rule for another two years after 2028 without going to an election and the same will apply to MPs. There is a public outcry over the amendment process with lawyers arguing that extending Mnangagwa and Parliament’s life without a referendum is illegal.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and top retired army generals have openly opposed the amendments and vowed to fight the.
“Let this CAB3 process come to an end as Matuke has said and there is going to be gnashing of teeth.
“Some of you are like bats. They are here with us by day but at night they are speaking in tongues. They hold endless meetings in their houses and hotels. There is nothing that I don’t know as I stand here. I chair the Provincial Joint Operations Command and Matuke chairs the National Operations Command. Our duties are to get reports on what each and every one of you is doing.
“I warn you, stop attending these little secret and nocturnal meetings that you are being invited to. The only legitimate meetings are those called by the provincial chairman, Rabson Mavhenyengwa, please avoid any other meetings; don’t sell your souls for a few beers because after this CAB3 there will be gnashing of teeth,” said Chadzamira.
Explaining CAB3, Chadzamira said Zimbabwe is a developing nation hence needs longer terms of office for incumbents to see development programmes through. He said developed nations don’t need long terms of office.
“Zimbabwe is a developing nation, Europe is a developed nation. Developing nations need longer periods to build their economies. Developed nations can change leaders frequently because their systems are already in place and their economies are strong,” said Chadzamira. *_-Masvingo Mirror_*
