President Mnangagwa’s nephew reported for destroying property

MASVINGO – David Mnangagwa, a nephew of President Mnangagwa has been reported to Police for allegedly destroying property at Murairwa Business Center in Gutu South following a scuffle and the affected businessman has accused ZRP of not acting on the case six months down the line.

Sources said the matter is being swept under the carpet because Police is afraid to prosecute a son of the President’s brother. It is understood that David Mnangagwa stays at President Mnangagwa’s farm in Bikita which is about 7km from Murairwa.

According to case number CR163/01/26 reported at Gutu Police Station, David Mnangagwa used a tractor to demolish a blair toilet, shop veranda, perimeter fence and part of Chimombe Shop at Murairwa after he was whipped with a switch by a man only identified as Thulani following an altercation.

The owner of the bar, 7km from Roy along Roy-Gutu Road, Talent Mandivenga confirmed the incident to Masvingo Mirror. He however, complained that he has not heard from Police since the incident happened six months ago and he is still counting his losses.
He said David Mnangagwa is not making reparations and his business is collapsing.
Thulani is said to have relocated to South Africa.

The incident allegedly happened on Christmas Eve in 2025.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said he was looking into the matter.
Presidential Spokesperson, George Charamba accused Masvingo Mirror reporter of making “serious allegations against a citizen”. He said as a journalist, the reporter had no power to make such allegations against David Mnangagwa adding that such can only be made by the Police.
He told the reporter to ask the Police Officer Commanding Masvingo and the complainant to call him.
The bar lady said to have been on duty on the day of the incident, Ester Musara confirmed the incident but said that she no longer stays at the business center.
“Are you making allegations or what? Are you getting this from the Police? Ok, get the complainant and the Officer Commanding to phone me. I can’t take it from a journalist. You are making a very serious allegation against a citizen when you are not working for the Police and you want me to validate that allegation by giving you a comment.

“Please tell the Officer Commanding because he the one with the capacity and machinery to tell me about that matter, not yourself. You are only a journalist like Charamba,” said Charamba.
Mnangagwa arrived at the bar while driving a tractor.
Around 7pm, he had an altercation with Thulani and they exchanged blows. Mnangagwa went on to allegedly indiscriminately assault several other patrons in the bar before Thulani assaulted him with a switch and ran away.
Mnangagwa then allegedly threatened to demolish the bar, got into his tractor and carelessly drove it. He hit a perimeter fence, toilet, shop veranda and the bar before driving away with three unidentified men.
