Police Relaunch Client Service Charter in Rimuka
By Lloyd Mwale in Kadoma
RIMUKA – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Rimuka recently relaunched its Client Service Charter, reaffirming its commitment to improving service delivery and strengthening relations with the community.
The event was officiated by the Officer Commanding ZRP Kadoma District, Chief Superintendent Musiyalela Mwezi, who was represented by Superintendent Michael Kugara.
Speaking during the relaunch, Chief Superintendent Mwezi said the Client Service Charter serves as a reminder of the police’s commitment to providing efficient and professional services as provided for under Section 219 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
“We are here to relaunch the Client Service Charter to remind residents of our commitment as enshrined in Section 219 of the Constitution. As the police, we pledge to meet your expectations through quality service delivery,” he said.
He explained that the police have set response time standards depending on the nature of reported incidents.
“We have Grade A calls, which are expected to be attended to within 10 minutes of receiving the report. Grade B calls should be attended to within two hours. However, this does not mean officers will wait until the stipulated time before responding. We will always attend to reported incidents as soon as possible,” he said.
Chief Superintendent Mwezi described the Client Service Charter as a covenant between the police and the public, emphasizing that effective policing requires mutual respect and cooperation.
“We have a covenant between you and us. While we are committed to serving you, we also expect your respect and support in different ways,” he said.
He encouraged residents to establish Neighbourhood Watch Committees and join the Policon, noting that the police cannot be present in every part of Rimuka at all times.
“As police, we cannot be found at every corner of Rimuka. We therefore urge residents to organise themselves into neighbourhood watch committees and actively participate in Policon initiatives to enhance community safety,” he said.
Chief Superintendent Mwezi also commended the Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe (BACFoZ) and the Crime Liaison Committee (CLC) for their continued support to ZRP Rimuka.
“I want to applaud the Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe and the Crime Liaison Committee for coming to the aid of Rimuka Police Station in various ways,” he said.
Addressing the issue of corruption, Chief Superintendent Mwezi acknowledged that corruption exists within the police service but stressed that it involves both the officer and the civilian.
“I would like to acknowledge that corruption does exist within the police force. However, corruption involves two parties—the police officer and the civilian. We therefore urge members of the public to refrain from engaging in corrupt practices,” he said.
He added that the Zimbabwe Republic Police has introduced body-worn cameras as part of measures to enhance accountability, improve transparency, and curb corruption within the service.
The Kadoma Police Boss also urged Kadoma residents to exhaust all channels if one is not satisfied with the service given at Rimuka Police Station.
“It’s my view that you will get good Services at Rimuka Police Station but if not satisfied I urge to approach the Officer in Charge Insp Makoni, if not satisfied again you have the rights to approach my office or the provincial office then up the Police General Headquarters in Harare and this is the main reason of the ZR Police Rimuka Client Service Charter Relaunch Event here in Rimuka.
The Client Service Charter Relaunch forms part of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s ongoing efforts to improve public confidence, accountability and service delivery through stronger partnerships with the communities they serve.
