2 women arrested after teen, who was dating one of them, dies

Two women have been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager, who was dating one of the women, whose body was found a few metres from their home on Sunday.

Brenda Zvomuya (19) and Irene Nyathi (29), the two suspects, are from Epworth.

They are believed to be linked to the murder of Tanaka Jenyura (19), who was dating Brenda.

Tanaka’s murder was one of four murder cases reported by police in Harare this weekend.

Tanaka is said to have left home to see his girlfriend Brenda in Green Valley, Epworth.

Upon arrival, he knocked at the door of Brenda’s house but she refused to open, claiming they were no longer in love.

She also claimed that Tanaka appeared drunk.

Tanaka continued knocking and ordering her to open the door.

Police said Irene, who lives in the same house, woke up and cautioned Tanaka against making noise. Irene is alleged to have splashed Tanaka with cold water.

Police said at around 7am, Irene was informed by a passer-by that Tanaka was lying lifeless on the roadside, about 15 metres from her home. Irene then alerted Brenda, who advised Tanaka’s sister.

Tanaka’s forehead and mouth were swollen, according to sources, and he also had a bruise on the left elbow.

Police said the body was taken to Chitungwiza General Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem.

“I am not sure of what transpired,” said Rumbidzayi, who is Tanaka’s sister.

In another suspected murder case, an unidentified male body was found along a dust road in Dzivarasekwa Extension on Sunday.

Police observed a deep cut on the right eye, scars on both hands, a fractured right leg, and a swollen back. They said there was no blood at the scene matching the injuries.

A grey blanket was covering the body.

The deceased was wearing a grey jacket, a grey pair of trousers, a stripped white and navy-blue T-shirt, with black-and-white tackies and a khaki sun hat was beside the body.

Police said the body was taken to Parirenyatwa for a post-mortem.

In Ruwa, police said an unidentified body was found seated in a parked blue Nissan Note vehicle at Dabuka Village near Mabvazuva suburb.

Police observed stab wounds on the left side of the chest, the left armpit, and four on the back of the left shoulder.

A search of the vehicle reportedly yielded a note with Blue Note registration.

The body was taken to Parirenyatwa mortuary for post-mortem.

Police also reported a body of a woman, who is suspected to have been raped and then killed, was found at Ingwe Farm in Glen View. The body had a deep cut on the left breast and was taken to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem. *_-H-Metro_*
