Don’t ‘hotspot’ me to hate Sir Wicknel, Mapfumo says as he declares wealthy tycoon a top fan
Chimurenga music legend Thomas Mapfumo says he has no reason to hate businessman Wicknel Chivayo and described him as his “big fan” while defending his decision to receive US$1 million for performing at the star wedding of musician Jah Prayzah and at a private ceremony.
Mapfumo came under fire from critics, mainly opposition activists, who wanted to coerce him into rejecting Chivayo’s gift and, in turn, shame the flashy businessman.
He called for unity and warned against unnecessary hate.

“Do I even know where he is getting his money? If he is a thief, why not arrest him? He is helping poor musicians,” he said.
