“John Travolta” Arrested For Armed Robbery In Harare

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of four suspects in two separate cases of robbery and unlawful entry recorded on 8 August 2026 in Harare and Mutare, with part of the stolen cash and all stolen property recovered.

In the first case, police confirmed the arrest of John Travolta (not the American actor) in connection with a robbery that occurred at Warren Park D Shopping Centre, Harare, on 8 August at around 7 PM.

According to police, the 34-year-old suspect, together with an accomplice who is yet to be arrested, allegedly pounced on a shop while armed with a pistol and with their faces covered with balaclavas. They allegedly threatened the shopkeeper and stole US$3,813 and ZiG1,200 before fleeing from the scene.

Members of the public are said to have pursued the suspects and apprehended one of them. Police subsequently recovered part of the stolen cash from the suspect, comprising US$1,071 and ZiG775.

Police said efforts are underway to arrest the second suspect and to recover the remainder of the stolen cash. Investigations are ongoing.

In the second incident, police in Mutare acted swiftly on a tip-off and arrested three suspects in connection with a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft which occurred in Dangamvura.

The suspects have been identified as Joel Dune (42), Cornelius Purazeni (40) and Jacob Chinyanga (46). They allegedly broke into a house and stole a 12kVA inverter and four solar batteries, all valued at US$5,240.

Police have since recovered all the stolen property.
