HARARE — The Mabvuku Interchange is now rising above ground, with the installation of major structural beams marking a key milestone in the project set to transform traffic flow in the eastern suburbs.

The latest developments at the site have given motorists and residents their first real view of the interchange, with the emerging structure now matching the 3D designs unveiled at the project’s launch.

Contractors have completed the erection of the main beams, moving the project from concept to a visible structure. Officials say the work signals that construction is well underway and progressing according to plan.

Once complete, the interchange is expected to ease congestion along one of Harare’s busiest transport corridors, cutting travel times for commuters and improving the movement of goods in and out of Mabvuku.

The project forms part of Government’s broader push to modernise the country’s road network and address bottlenecks in urban areas. Transport authorities say similar upgrades are planned for other major junctions across the capital.

For residents who have watched the site for months, the rising beams offer tangible proof that the project is advancing.

“From render to reality — beam by beam,” one motorist at the site said.

The Mabvuku Interchange is expected to improve connectivity in the area while reducing accidents and delays at the current roundabout.

With structural work now visible, attention will shift to deck laying and road linkages as the project moves closer to completion.
