ZRP investigates Harare-Chirundu hit-and-run, appeals for help to identify woman found dead in Beatrice_

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating two separate cases involving unidentified bodies – a fatal hit-and-run accident along the Harare-Chirundu highway and a suspected murder case in Beatrice – and has appealed for assistance from members of the public.

In the first incident, police said they are investigating a hit-and-run road traffic accident which occurred at the 35-kilometre peg along the Harare-Chirundu Road on 5 September 2026 at around 2:30 am.

According to the ZRP, an unknown motorist struck an unidentified male adult who was attempting to cross the road. The victim sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot.

“The motorist did not stop after the accident and fled from the scene,” police said.

The victim’s body was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary for post-mortem examination.

In a separate statement, police in Chivhu said they are investigating a case of murder involving the unidentified body of a female adult who was found dead at Mnandi Farm, Beatrice, in April 2026.

At the time the body was discovered, the victim, who was described as light in complexion, was wearing a floral skin-tight top, khaki trousers and a black bra. She had black and brown braided hair.

Police said the body has been kept at Chitungwiza Central Hospital mortuary since it was found, but no relatives have come forward to identify her.

The ZRP is now appealing to members of the public who may have information which could assist in identifying the victim to come forward.
