Killer Zivhu Distances Self From Varanda VeZimbabwe
Controversial Zanu PF official Killer Zivhu has rejected reports linking him to Varanda VeZimbabwe, a newly emerging political movement led by Brett Muvet Holley.
Zivhu’s clarification comes after claims circulated on social media suggesting that he had joined or was associated with the opposition-oriented movement.
In a strongly worded response last week, Zivhu dismissed the reports and insisted that he remained firmly committed to Zanu PF.
“Hey guys, stop hallucinating. I didn’t join anything, and I will not join anything,” Zivhu said.
He went on to make clear that he had no intention of abandoning the ruling party, even under circumstances where its membership dramatically declined.
“I will die a ZANU-PF member. Even if I’m the only one left in ZANU-PF, I will remain a ZANU-PF member forever,” he said.
Zivhu also appeared irritated by the speculation, telling those circulating the reports to stop.”Stop this nonsense,” he said.
Meanwhile, Zivhu has also criticised Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe over the government’s ultimatum ordering vendors to vacate streets and city centres.
While acknowledging that clearing vendors from central business districts was reasonable, Zivhu questioned the government’s earlier approach to informal traders, particularly in relation to support for Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3.
“It’s fine to clear vendors from the city centre. The problem is you encouraged them to sell anywhere and everywhere just to get their support for CAB 3,” Zivhu said in a statement at the weekend.
He argued that the government’s position had shifted after the constitutional amendment became law, leaving vendors facing eviction after previously being allowed greater freedom to operate.
“Now that it’s law, you’re issuing ultimatums for them to leave. And now they’ve given you an ultimatum too,” he said.
Zivhu concluded with a question directed at the government over what could follow the confrontation.
“So what’s next?” he asked.
