F.S. Mining Partners Govt in Major US$2.3M Matabeleland Road Infrastructure Boost

INSIZA DISTRICT – In a landmark private-public partnership aimed at transforming rural connectivity, F.S Mining has spearheaded a US$2.37 million road rehabilitation project in Matabeleland South, officially commissioned by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Albert Nguluvhe, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The chrome mining giant emerged as the primary financier and moving force behind the extensive restoration of the 22-kilometre Malole-Dickson and Silalatshani-Sanali-Malole road network. The project, which also involved collaboration with the Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) and the Insiza Rural District Council, is being hailed as a blueprint for corporate social responsibility and investing for social impact in the Province.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Insiza, Minister Nguluvhe lauded FS Mining for its substantial investment, noting that the company’s commitment to infrastructure is a direct catalyst for regional economic growth.
“I commend FS Mining for investing approximately US$2.37 million into this important road infrastructure,” Hon. Nguluvhe said. “This is the kind of corporate-community partnership that we want to see across Matabeleland South Province. Companies must grow together with the communities in which they operate.”
The four-month intensive project involved comprehensive regravelling and the reconstruction of critical culverts. In a feat of engineering necessitated by the local terrain, four swampy sections were reinforced with specialized rock structures. Furthermore, the initiative went beyond main transit routes to improve access roads leading specifically to Malole and Zvikombe schools, ensuring safer travel for students and teachers.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, FS Mining’s involvement provided an immediate economic injection to the district by creating numerous temporary employment opportunities for local residents during the construction phase.
The Honourable Minister Nguluvhe emphasized that FS Mining’s contribution aligns perfectly with the Second Republic’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and the march toward His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.
He noted that the improved roads will serve as “arteries of development,” facilitating the trade of agricultural produce and improving access to emergency health services.
“The rehabilitation of these roads is therefore not merely about improving a road; it is about improving the quality of life of our people,” the Minister added. He challenged other players in the extractive industry to follow the lead set by FS Mining, stressing that the Government encourages businesses to complement state programmes through “meaningful investment” in their host communities.
F.S Mining CEO Dr. Precious Mabuza said, “We are grateful to His Excellency President Dr. E.D Mnangagwa’s for creating a conducive environment for investors to invest in the country. The “Zimbabwe ls Open for Business” Mantra is indeed a reality, said Dr. Mabuza.
“As a mining company operating within Zimbabwe, we strongly believe that our responsibility extends beyond the boundaries of our mining operations. Our investment should leave a meaningful and lasting impact on communities in which we operate, in line with President Dr. E.D Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, leaving no-one and no place behind,” added Dr. Precious Mabuza.
The ceremony was attended by local Traditional Leaders, representatives from Tofee Mining, and community members who celebrated the reduction in travel times and the anticipated increase in economic activity following FS Mining’s intervention.
