ROTTERVIEW COLLEGE CHAMPIONS EXCELLENCE

KADOMA-Rotterview College played host to a colourful celebration of academic excellence, talent and community solidarity when it held its Speech and Prize Giving Day, with popular musician Buddo Nox setting the stage alight in a performance that left parents, learners and guests calling for more.
The event brought together the school community and stakeholders to celebrate outstanding achievements while reaffirming the institution’s commitment to nurturing disciplined, educated and future-ready citizens.
Rotterview College Director Dr Simbarashe Chimombe said the institution remained indebted to the community for its continued support and had deliberately created the occasion to recognise hard work and inspire learners to pursue excellence.
“This is a very important day on our calendar where we celebrate diligence, discipline and distinction. We want our learners to know that hard work is recognised and rewarded at Rotterview College,” said Dr Chimombe.
Learners who distinguished themselves in academics, sport, arts and other disciplines were presented with prizes in a celebration that underscored the college’s philosophy of rewarding merit while encouraging others to raise the bar.
The ceremony also provided a platform for talent development, with Buddo Nox, a former Rotterview College student, returning to his former school to entertain the community that witnessed part of his formative journey.
Buddo Nox electrified the gathering with his energetic stage presence and popular hits, which resonated strongly with the youthful audience.
His performance transformed the ceremony into a vibrant celebration, with parents and other well-wishers taking turns to shower the musician with cash in appreciation of his performance.
The occasion was graced by guest of honour Cllr Kumbirai Zvivada, who commended the Rotterview College leadership for its commitment to education and for complementing the Government’s national development thrust.
Cllr Zvivada said the institution’s efforts were in sync with President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “leaving no one and no place behind” philosophy, particularly through expanding access to education and equipping young people with skills needed to contribute meaningfully to national development.
He also applauded the college for embracing the Education 5.0 thrust, which seeks to move education beyond theory towards innovation, industrialisation, problem-solving and tangible solutions to national challenges.
Parents hailed Rotterview College for investing in the development of learners and creating an environment where academic achievement, discipline, sport and talent are celebrated.
They said the institution was playing a critical role in moulding the leaders of tomorrow, with education serving as a springboard for personal transformation and national development.
The Speech and Prize Giving Day therefore emerged as more than just an awards ceremony, but a celebration of education, talent, discipline, community participation and the collective responsibility to build Zimbabwe’s human capital.
With academic achievers rewarded, emerging talents showcased and the school’s former student returning as a celebrated artiste, Rotterview College demonstrated that excellence, when nurtured, can inspire a generation and feed into the broader national development agenda.
