Makandiwa: I didn’t see Chivayo’s death but they ‘knew their time was near’

United Family International (UFI) Church leader Emmanuel Makandiwa says he did not foresee the death of businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife Lucy in the helicopter crash in Marondera.

“I don’t see everything,” Makandiwa says Chivayo, wife knew their time was near.

Chivayo and his wife, Lucy, appeared to believe their time was near and wanted to complete their charitable work, he said.

Addressing speculation over whether he had foreseen the helicopter crash that killed the couple, Makandiwa said he did not claim to know everything.

“I have never seen everything, I don’t see everything, and I won’t see everything, only God does,” he said.

Makandiwa said the couple wanted their remaining time to be spent at their best while completing the work they had set out to do.

“The couple knew their time to be taken and desired for that time to be while they were at their best,” he said.

In a condolence message to the Chivayo family and the Johane Masowe church, Makandiwa said he did not see the accident prophetically, stressing that he does not claim to see everything.

“As for the question of whether I saw the accident prophetically before time or not, some may wonder that; to me, I was rendered unimportant when I stated in time past my inability to see everything,” Makandiwa said.

Makandiwa said he had spent time with Chivayo and his wife at their home, including having supper and holding private discussions.

He said the couple had lived generously and helped many people, adding that their work and giving had left a lasting legacy.

Makandiwa extended his condolences to the families of the victims and said he would continue to keep those grieving in prayer.

“May our Lord Jesus keep you in His perfect peace,” he said.
