I’m a hopeless, hapless, reckless drunkard — says apologetic Killer T
Zimdancehall star Killer T has conceded that he is a hopeless dunkanrd who has been struggling to deal with his extreme drinking habits.
He claims his drinking binges make him say things, including X-rated insults, which he cannot believe came out of his mouth when he gets sober.
He announced that he has quit alcohol and will now become a advocate who will lead the line in the fight against alcohol and drug abuse.
Killer T spent another night in police custody yesterday after being arrested on Monday on charges of cyber bullying.
He is being accused of insulting Ambassador Kwame Tapiwa Muzawazi, whose relative was killed after being attacked by a vicious pack of dogs.
Yesterday, Killer T apologised to Ambassador Muzavazi and his family.
“I was shocked and could not even believe I had said those bad distasteful words and threats when I listened to the voice notes,” Killer T said in a statement.
“I admit I have been abusing alcohol. I was heavily intoxicated at the material time but that is not an excuse.
“I should never have drunk alcohol to those levels in the first place. I take full responsibility and must be held accountable for my actions.
“I have not only failed myself, I have failed and tarnished my name and brand.
“I have also been a very bad example to all youths who look up to me as a musician and celebrity in Zimbabwe.
“I have failed my family and everyone who believed in me. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.”
He added:
“I am reaching out to Ambassador Muzawazi and his family humbly requesting forgiveness.
“This apology comes from the bottom of my heart. It is sincere. I may not be able to reverse the pain and damage I have caused but I can only hope that you will find it in your heart to at least forgive me. To err is human but to forgive is divine.
“I AM VERY SORRY.
“As a sign of sincerity and genuine remorse I will be going to court pleading guilty to the charges. I can never deny or attempt to waste the court’s time.”
He said he has been reflecting on his wild conduct. “I have reflected deeply on my bad conduct and have resolved to quit drinking alcohol before it is too late.
“I have abused alcohol before and now wish to be an advocate against drugs and substance abuse.
“I regret my conduct and feel extremely bad. I hope everyone, my family and friends will help me to be a better exemplary person. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.”
The Muzawazi family responded to his apology in a statement released yesterday.
“The Muzawazi Family has taken note of the public apology and retraction of criminal threats issued by Kelvin Kusikwenyu aka Killer T.
“We appreciate his acknowledgment of the hurt caused by the words and threats directed at our family, at a time we are already dealing with the devastating loss of our beloved Malcolm Takudzwa Muzawazi.
“Malcolm’s death has left a profound void in our family. Nothing can undo that loss, and we continue to grieve him and to seek justice and accountability through the appropriate channels.
“We nevertheless recognise the sincerity expressed in Killer T’s apology and accept it in the spirit in which it has been offered. We do not wish for conflict or to harbour bitterness, and we hope for greater responsibility, restraint and compassion, particularly when dealing with matters involving grief, tragedy and the loss of human life.
We, accept the apology and wish Killer T well, and urge him to stay true to his voluntary commitment towards positive reform, working against drug and substance abuse.” *_-H-Metro_*
