Life changing projects for Zimbabwe villagers as solar powered water pumps, lights installed

THE goal to ensure universal access to safe and clean water, solar-powered water pumps for irrigation purposes at various schools and villages, the use of biogas as a source of energy, and the installation of solar electricity for, both domestic and industrial use have greatly improved the quality of lives for villagers in Mutema-Musikavanhu Constituency.

This is all thanks to the resourcefulness of House of Assembly representative and Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Deputy Minister, Honourable Angeline Gata.

The developments resonate with the National Development Strategy (NDSI), and Vision 2030.

This was made possible by Rural Electrification Fund in partnership with UNDP and CAWEP.

As the adage goes: “A good initiative takes a little effort to be appreciated,” all the villagers in Mutema-Musikavanhu Constituency have welcomed the life changing developments taking place in their area, and are grateful for the wonderful work being done by Honourable Gata as she is proving to be a servant of the people.

She is working very hard in line with the Second Republic’s drive of making Zimbabwe an upper-middle income society through Vision 2030 as pronounced by President Mnangagwa.

The training of youths in various courses in her constituency is another stepping stone in the right direction as the Second Republic is moving towards creating a skilled society that understands the demand of the industry and the community they serve.

Deputy Minister Gata thanked development partners spearheading the projects, saying their unwavering commitment to compliment Government’s efforts should be emulated by other stakeholders.

“We have been lagging behind as a constituency, and we are proud to be part of these initiatives which demonstrates the power of partnership in achieving meaningful development outcomes aligning with the country’s development priorities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS),” said Deputy Minister Gata.

Mr Bernard Manyere, an upcoming welder, said: “We are grateful for the availability of electricity as this is improving our lives and incomes. We are now enhancing our business activities.

“This is enabling us to be at the same level with our urban counterparts. We are now close to the people unlike in the past when our customers would travel long distances to acquire door and window frames.”

Ms Charity Makuyana (85) also welcomed the development, saying she previously relied on neighbours to fetch water for her from Chibangwe River- more than 5km from her home.

“I am grateful that I now have clean and safe water nearby, and I have ceased to be a burden to my neighbours,” said Ms Makuyana.

The water project has, not only provided clean water for domestic use, but also for schools, clinics, dip tanks and nutritional gardens.

In addition to the various projects being implemented within the Mutema-Musikavanhu Constituency, Deputy Minister Gata is doing everything in her power to indulge in philanthropic work by donating groceries to the less privileged members of the society.

“This small token will make a significant difference in the lives of those I serve in my constituency, and surrounding areas as the country is grappling with the El Nino-induced drought,” she said.

A beneficiary and mother of three, Mrs Sarudzani Makuyana, could not hide her excitement as she received her food hamper.

Mrs Makuyana whose homestead was recently razed down by a fire said: “This will go a long way in ensuring that we also lead a decent life again after our homestead was gutted by fire that destroyed everything. Indeed, this is a very good gesture worth thanking.”
