“Emmerson impregnated and abandoned me’: Zimbabwe woman’s Facebook post causes bruhaha online
A Facebook post by a Zimbabwean woman has caused a stir online, making serious allegations against Mabel Chinomona, the President of the Senate, and President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The woman claims that Chinomona and Mnangagwa have a child together named Farai Chinomona. She also accuses Chinomona of looting farms and giving one to Farai, who reportedly owns land in Mashonaland East. These allegations have sparked heated discussions on social media, with many questioning their validity while others express outrage over corruption and nepotism.
In her post, the woman alleged that Chinomona is shielding Mnangagwa and their supposed child for personal and political gain. She stated that the farm Farai allegedly owns was obtained through corrupt means. The woman also declared that the farm would eventually be reclaimed under the principle of “one man, one farm.” These accusations have added fuel to ongoing debates about land redistribution in Zimbabwe, a topic that remains contentious decades after independence.
The post has drawn mixed reactions from social media users. Some expressed anger over the alleged corruption, while others doubted the authenticity of the claims. A few highlighted broader issues of governance and accountability in Zimbabwe. One user commented, “Mabel Chinomona is very forgetful. Mnangagwa ousted Mugabe, so what is this nonsense about ‘no new sun can rise’? Zimbabwe is in very bad hands with these politicians.” Another remarked, “You and your cohort have no title deeds for Zimbabwe. It is our country, all of us.”
Mabel Chinomona has been a vocal supporter of President Mnangagwa and his leadership. In recent remarks, she criticized those who attack Mnangagwa on social media, describing such behaviour as unique to Zimbabwe. Speaking at a Zanu PF Women’s League meeting, she said, “People are being paid to insult him on social media. This only happens in Zimbabwe, and it must stop.” She also emphasized her loyalty to Mnangagwa, stating that no new leadership could emerge while he remains in power.
