25-Year-Old Kadoma Man Jailed For Kidnapping 16-Year-Old Girl

A 25-year-old Kadoma man has been sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment by the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl.

The incident occurred on 20 August 2025 at Patchway Business Centre in Kadoma.

The teenage victim was waiting for transport home when the man lured her into his vehicle.

Other passengers were initially present, but after dropping them off, the offender diverted from the intended route under the pretext of refuelling.

Instead of taking her home, he drove towards Harare, depriving her of her freedom of movement.

At the 79km peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road, the girl bravely alerted police officers at a roadblock, resulting in the offender’s arrest.

He was detained at Saruwe Police Station and later convicted of kidnapping.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) commended the victim for her courage and urged communities to remain vigilant against predatory behaviour.

The NPA also warned that any attempts to deprive minors of their freedom will be met with decisive legal action.
