Chiwenga warns Mnangagwa that he is repeating Mugabe-era mistakes

Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga has issued a blunt warning to Zanu PF, suggesting that the ruling party and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government risk repeating the mistakes that brought down the late former president Robert Mugabe’s regime.
Addressing the Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi, Chiwenga said internal democratic processes had been “hijacked” by forces working to subvert the popular will.
Although he did not name individuals, his remarks were widely read as a direct challenge to factions within the party accused of manipulating Zanu PF’s internal structures for personal or factional gain.
Chiwenga’s intervention comes amid intensifying speculation over succession and deepening divisions inside the ruling party. His warning that the party is drifting back toward Mugabe-era practices is likely to sharpen tensions at a conference already dominated by questions over Mnangagwa’s future and the vice-president’s political standing.
The comments mark one of Chiwenga’s strongest public signals yet that he sees the party’s democratic credibility — and possibly its hold on power — under threat from within.
Zanu PF has not immediately responded to his remarks. *_-Newshawks_*
