Naiza Boom praying for actress Svinurai…Some are saying akarohwa neZvishiri
MEMBERS of Zimbabwe’s drama group, Naiza Boom, have suspended production as they pray for actress Svinurai, Tete VekuMasvingo, who suddenly collapsed during the filming of a skit.
What began as a regular shoot quickly turned into a medical emergency, with the popular actress losing consciousness on set.
Svinurai, known for her powerful presence in Naiza Boom productions, was taking part in a scene when she fell unexpectedly.
According to the team, they initially thought it was a fainting episode.
“We thought she had fainted,” the group said.
“But when we took her to the hospital, we were told she didn’t just faint. She had blacked out completely and was unresponsive.
“The situation is still very bad. Right now, we can’t say exactly how serious it is. Svinurai can’t open her eyes or even speak.
“Let’s keep praying for Svinurai, she is not just an actress, she’s family. Seeing her like this has been heartbreaking for all of us.”
The emotional impact has been heavy on the Naiza Boom family, a group well-known for its close-knit cast and high-energy skits that reflect Zimbabwean society with humour and creativity. Svinurai’s family has since removed her from the hospital and taken her home, seeking help from traditional healers.
While the move has sparked online debate, with mixed reactions, the family believes this may bring hope where medical treatment has so far not helped.
“The family chose to consult traditionalists,” said a source close to the situation. “We are respecting their decision and just keeping her in our prayers.”
The drama group has temporarily halted production; with many actors saying they can’t continue while Svinurai remains unwell.
“It’s hard to continue acting when one of our own is lying helpless. We need her energy, her spirit. Until she’s back, things won’t feel right,” said a fellow cast member.
Naiza Boom has grown into one of Zimbabwe’s most loved online drama groups, and Svinurai has played a major role in its success.
