Stepdad jailed 40 years for raping, impregnating stepdaughter

A CHINHOYI magistrate has condemned a local man to 40 years’ imprisonment for raping and impregnating his stepdaughter aged 14.

The 38-year-old offender of Chibatamoto village, Kenzamba, was slapped with 40 years, of which 10 years were conditionally suspended. He will, therefore, effectively serve 30 years behind bars.

Court heard that offender raped victim on four different occasions after she and her siblings were left in his custody while the mother was away.

The victim later fell pregnant as a result of the abuse and disclosed the violations to the offender’s employer, leading to his arrest.
