Father Flower Group of Schools Celebrates Excellence at Annual Prize Giving Day

For the first time since independence, Kadoma Father Flower Group of Schools on Saturday hosted its highly anticipated Speech and Prize Giving Day which highlighted the school’s dedication to academic excellence, innovative technology adoption and outstanding achievements by learners and staff alike.

The atmosphere was electric as people from all walks of life came to witness the landing of a helicopter for such a historic event. Disembarking from the helicopter, guest of honor Douglas Kwande and several government officials walked down the red carpet. Parents, teachers and learners erupted into a thunderous applause as the guest arrived in stye.

Running under the theme, ” Honouring the founding of Father Flower Group of Schools and it’s Continued Support and Commitment to Sustainable Development through Military Leadership Styles”, the event was marked as a major milestone with the unveiling of two brand new buses, symbolisng the institution’s continuous investment in learner welfare and moden educational facilities.

The event culminated in the presentation of awards to top learners across various disciplines with best students receiving their honours

Accompanied by his Chief Executive Officer the Guest of Honour, Elder Douglas Kwande handed over US$20 000. The gesture was received by Director General Jimmy Lemekani-Waya, the Director and founder of Father Flower Group of Schools.

One of the students who scooped a prize, Melody Gwenyukwenyu, said she was thrilled to receive a prize as a recognition of her hard work.

“I could not believe myself. This is the best thing that has ever happened. Seeing everyone happy for me is something else. I made it by the grace of God”, she said.

Addressing attendees during the event the School’ Director, General Jimmy Lemekani-Waya emphasized that the occasion reflected the school’s commitment in changing the lives of the people in Kadoma.

“This moment is a reflection and celebration to recognize the hard work of our learners, dedication of our teachers, the unwavering support of our parents as well as the generous contributions of our partners,” he said.

In his speech the Guest of Honor Douglas Kwande said he was delighted to attend such a historic event

“It is an honor on this special occasion to stand before you for this historic Speech and Prize Giving Day,” he said.

He went on to encourage everyone present to be patriotic, stay focused and dream of bigger things and not to let their background and present situations define their future

“A cat that is dreaming of becoming a lion must start by losing its appetite for rats,” he said.

The ceremony not only celebrated current achievements but also reinforced the school’s vision and tireless effort of developing well-rounded individuals equipped to navigate both global opportunities and their cultural heritage.
