ZANU PF Shares 22nd National People’s Conference Resolutions, Tackles Local Challenges in Hatcliffe Meeting

The ZANU PF party held a feedback meeting yesterday in Hatchliffe, where they shared resolutions from the 22nd National People’s Conference held in Mutare and introduced new member to the Central Committee.

Dr. Kudakwashe Tagwirei, a newly co-opted Central Committee member, addressed the gathering, highlighting the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilization and community engagement. “As we move forward, it’s crucial that we work together to achieve our party’s goals and objectives,” he said.

Tagwirei announced the disbursement of a US$225,000 revolving empowerment fund for ZANU PF wings in Zone 4 aimed at supporting local initiatives and strengthening party structures. The funds were allocated to various groups, including War Veterans, US$50,000 to support their economic empowerment and welfare projects.Youth League US$50,000 to boost youth-led initiatives and entrepreneurship programs .Women’s League, US$50,000 to support women-led businesses and community development project. Main Board received US$50,000 for party operational costs and support for community outreach programs. The disabled were allocated US$25,000 and food hampers for the elderly to support their welfare and living standards.

Other donations came from Joachim Chivayo and Honourable Scott Sakupwanya, Mabvuku MP these includes seven laptops and 20 wheelchairs. Another ZANU PF member Mr Chinhenga donated two starlinks and six laptops for zone 4 community. Bridging Gap Organisation also donated 1250 food hampers for the elderly and the vulnerable.

Addressing pressing local issues, Tagwirei expressed concern over drug and substance abuse in Hatcliffe, linking it to rising violent crimes, including activities by machete gangs. “We cannot sit back and watch as drugs and substance abuse destroy the future of our youth. We need to work with the community and law enforcement agencies to tackle this menace head-on,” he said, calling for increased community vigilance and support for local initiatives aimed at rehabilitation and crime prevention.

On business opportunities, Tagwirei highlighted the need for locals to tap into available resources and opportunities, particularly through the party’s empowerment initiatives. He specifically pointed to the Dust business area in Hatchliffe, a bustling hub where local traders currently operate various businesses amidst challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and lack of formalized trading spaces.

“We are committed to transforming the Dust business area into a thriving commercial hub that benefits local community members. Plans are underway to work with local authorities and stakeholders to upgrade the area, provide better infrastructure, and create more opportunities for locals to engage in sustainable businesses,” he said.

Regarding the water challenges facing the area, Tagwirei acknowledged the issue, stating, “Access to clean water is a fundamental right, and we are working with local authorities to address the water shortages in Hatchliffe. We urge patience as we work towards finding sustainable solutions to this challenge.”

On empowering the police to curtail criminal activities, Tagwirei donated a vehicle to police to ease challenges of apprehending criminals. He also emphasized the importance of community-police partnerships. “We need to support our police force with the resources they need and work together as a community to report suspicious activities. By doing so, we can create a safer environment for everyone in Hatchliffe,” he said.

The meeting was also an opportunity to share key resolutions from the 22nd National People’s Conference. Politburo member and State Minister for Harare Metropolitan province, Charles Tavengwa provided insight into the conference’s outcomes. “Resolution Number One, which aims to extend President Mnangagwa’s term of office beyond 2028, was endorsed by all conference delegates. No objections were raised concerning the resolution,” he said.

The resolution to extend President Mnangagwa’s term to 2030 is aimed at ensuring policy continuity and consolidating gains of the Second Republic, particularly in infrastructure development and inflation control.

ZANU PF Harare Provincial Chairman, Godwills Masimirembwa, emphasized the importance of the meeting in strengthening the party’s presence in Harare. “This is part of our strategy to ensure ZANU PF reclaims its status in Harare. We have won all the by-elections,” he said.

The meeting reflects ZANU PF’s focus on engaging with local communities and building support for its initiatives, with the newly introduced Central Committee members playing a key role in driving these efforts forward.
