ZICCO 2025 AGM: BULAWAYO CREATORS VOTE, ROYALTIES DISBURSED

Bulawayo — The Zimbabwe Copyrights Council (ZICCO) concluded its elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday at the Family of God Church, Jason Moyo Avenue, where members exercised franchise rights, endorsed a new board slate, and received confirmation of the 2025 royalty payout cycle.

Registered composers, musicians and rights holders cast ballots for board positions, with the vote count proceeding under observer oversight to ensure transparency. ZICCO confirmed a provisional flat‑rate disbursement of US $50 per member , pending rollout of a detailed playlist‑based distribution model slated for 2026.The disbursement benefits over 1000 artists and this was the second disbursement.

“We are encouraging all members to be present to exercise their right to vote and elect their preferred candidates to represent them. This AGM is a cornerstone of our organisational integrity… The election will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.” Tafadzwa Masembura, ZICCO Chief Executive Officer.

The AGM also underscored ZICCO’s commitment to bolstering copyright enforcement and expanding sustainable revenue streams for Zimbabwe’s creative sector.
