Makhadzi Discharged From Hospital After New Year’s Eve Car Accident

South African singer Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, better known as Makhadzi, has been discharged from the hospital after being injured in a car accident on 31 December 2025.

Makhadzi was involved in a serious crash on the N1 highway while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg. She was rushed to a private hospital in Polokwane for treatment.

At the time of the accident, she was on her way to headline a New Year’s Eve performance in Gauteng.

In a Facebook post on Monday, 5 January 2026, Makhadzi said doctors had advised her to stay at home and rest for the next 10 weeks, during which time she will not be performing. She wrote:

“To all my lovely khadzinators, my fans. Thank you for the love and support you have been showing me during this difficult time

“I feel a need to update you about my health at this point because of the love and support you have been showing me, not only in South Africa but also to all my African followers globally.

“I am now discharged from the hospital so that my family can take care of me until I get back to Normal.

“From the treatment I have been receiving from my doctor, she advised that, due to all the injuries, I will have to remain at home care for 10 weeks without performing.”

Makhadzi said that while the 10-week break might feel lonely, she believes God is giving her time to create beautiful melodies and write great music. She added:

“I won’t be performing, but I will be in the studio doing what he saved me for… and also not forgetting to thank him for giving me a SECOND CHANCE TO BREATHE. Zwinzhi ridozwiamba ngamurahu (Many things will be said later).”
