By Desire Tshuma
Nyanga – In a whirlwind visit to Nyanga, Presidential Special Advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara, who was recently nominated as a ZANU PF central committee member for Manicaland province, has cemented his reputation as a champion of philanthropy. The event, which was attended by top government and party officials, saw Dr. Tungwarara donate cash and gifts to war veterans, chimbwidos, mujibas, and other ZANU PF loyalists.
Dr. Tungwarara handed over $50,000 to war veterans, $20,000 to chimbwidos, and $50,000 to mujibas and non-combatants. The 10 chiefs who attended the event received $2,000 each, while other ZANU PF affiliates, including Zimbabwe Widows for Economic Development , Women Drivers 4ED, and BoysDzamudhara Pastors 4ED, received different sums of donations.
“Dr. Tungwarara’s generosity is a reflection of the party’s commitment to its grassroots supporters,” said Hon Supa Mandiwanzira. “We are grateful for his tireless efforts in mobilizing resources for our party and the community.”
Hon Sanyatwe praised Dr. Tungwarara’s vision for development, saying, “His approach to empowering communities is what we need in Manicaland. We are excited about the Starlink project and the bicycles for our district chairpersons.”
Manicaland Provincial Minister Hon Mugadza echoed these sentiments, saying, “Dr. Tungwarara’s donation is a boost to our provincial development agenda. We are grateful for his support and commitment to our province.”
The Presidential Advisor also presented $1,000 to a disabled pig farmer, Mr. Joseph Mutambara, who had donated a pig to him, praising his generosity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Dr. Tungwarara spoke out against a fake WhatsApp group that had been created in the name of the First Family, saying it was a clear example of the kind of malicious activities that the government would not tolerate. “We will not sit back and watch as false prophets and detractors spread their poison. We will deal with them decisively,” he warned.
Other highlights of the visit included the donation of 1,000 bicycles to ZANU PF district chairpersons, 40 Starlink internet kits to schools, with a promise to connect all schools in Manicaland province to the internet by the end of the year.
DCC Makoni, former ZANU PF national youth chairman Kudzanayi Chipanga, and other senior party officials were also in attendance.
Meanwhile, the passing of former MP Cde Farai Musikavanhu, who represented Chiredzi Central and was a ZANU PF central committee member, has been met with sadness by Zimbabwe Widows for Economic Development , which is set to receive empowerment funds from Dr. Tungwarara. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Cde Musikavanhu. He was a good man who touched many lives. We will miss him dearly,” said Alice Mutambara, Founder and National Chairperson of the organization.
The organization, which has established branches in all 10 provinces, is focused on empowering widows across the country and is expected to be officially launched in Manicaland.
