Prof Smelly Dube Scores Big for Zimbabwe’s Football Hero & Gweru’s needy
River Valley Group CEO, Ambassador Professor Smelly Dube, has hit 2026 running on the philanthropic lane- gifting Zimbabwe’s Soccer Star of the Year, Washington Navaya big and putting more smiles on the needy in Gweru.
Navaya got a prime 1000 square meter residential stand in Gweru’s Hertfordshire suburb from Prof Dube representing the whole RiverValley Group of Companies family that includes Chairman Eng. Dr Mncedisi Dube who is Prof Smelly Dube’s husband.
The surprise announcements were made during a charity event where the River Valley Group donated groceries to the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund, supporting underprivileged families.
Prof Dube praised Navaya’s achievements, saying:
“While our focus today is on uplifting the vulnerable, we must celebrate and invest in our champions.”
The Mayor of Gweru hailed the gesture as a “masterstroke linking community development with national inspiration.”
The Mayor reiterated the world had “seen the heart of corporate world” in reference to Prof Dube’s warm philanthropic works.
This philanthropic act underscores the River Valley Group’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community upliftment.
Last year these gestures saw Proffessor Smelly Dube and Chairman Eng. Dr. Mncedisi Dube emerging with pride after sweeping local and continental awards for showering love to communities in the Midlands.
The business power couple was inducted into the hall of fame for 2025 by the Leaders Without Borders Development Centre in the UK.
In addition, the Dubes had one of their subsidiary companies, Matovu Investments trading as Tebekwe Mine honored as one of the Top 50 Emerging African companies.
More importantly, on 5 December Prof Dube clinched the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network top award to complete a sweep of accolades both in Zimbabwe and Africa at large.
During the festive season, Prof Dube held festivities in Midlands to celebrate life with community acquaintances and workers from her firm Tebekwe mine.
These developments come at a time when River Valley is now spreading its wings to Botswana and Scotland.
Through their private property development company RiverValley Properties, Prof Smelly Dube and her spouse Eng Dr. Mncedisi Dube have provided descent homes to thousands of residents in Gweru, Shurugwi and other areas after developing the high density suburb of Woodlands Park and Hertfordshire middle density surbub, and Magakooshla in Shurugwi, among others.
