Allied Tobacco Farmers 4ED Hosts Successful Field Day in Hurungwe East- Mashonaland West.

Hurungwe – Allied Tobacco farmers 4ED (ATF4ED) yesterday hosted its second field day in Hurungwe East constituency, Mashonaland West with the aim of promoting tobacco farming across all ten provinces. The event, held at Patrick Chadzelakuka’s farm brought together hundreds of farmers and top government officials and industry experts.

Jesina Mangwiro, ATF4ED’s chairperson, stood at the podium, her voice filled with pride. “We have exceeded 10,000 farmers across all ten provinces, and it’s just the beginning.” She appealed to the government to allocate then land in each and every province for youth in tobacco farming, citing the benefits of keeping young people occupied and away from substance abuse.

Murehwa South MP Honourable Noah Mangondo, the Guest of Honour, praised Chadzelakuka’s leadership. “This farm is a testament to what can be achieved with hard work and dedication. I’m inspired by the impact tobacco farming is having on this community.”

Hurungwe West MP Pastor Chenjera Kangausaru commended Chadzelakuka’s efforts, noting his 10 hectares of tobacco and expected yield of 2,500 kgs per hectare. “Patrick is a shining example of what it means to be a true leader in this community. His vision and passion are driving progress and prosperity in Hurungwe East.” Hon Pastor Chenjera Kangausaru also warned farmers of child labour citing its a criminal offence and its now rife in tobacco farming.

As the crowd dispersed, farmers gathered around demonstration plots, learning about innovative techniques and technologies. Chadzelakuka’s farm became a hub of activity, with experts sharing knowledge and best practices.

Chadzelakuka himself was beaming with pride. “I’m humbled by the support I’ve received from the community and our leaders. I’m requesting Hon Pastor Kangausaru’s help in acquiring 100 hectares to boost my farming business. I want to create jobs, support my community, and contribute to Zimbabwe’s growth.”

Kangausaru smiled, nodding in agreement. “We’ll work together, Patrick. Your vision is inspiring.”

Among the invited delagates was Inspector Chizengeni of Tengwe Police Station who advised , the gathering not to cross overflowing rivers and fishing in dams using tubes. “Remember, safety comes first. Avoid crossing overflowing rivers and fishing in dams using tubes. We’ve recorded five drownings this season.” We urge you as responsible citizens to also report criminal activities happening in this constituency including rape cases and police wanted people.

The crowd dispersed, carrying with them the seeds of change, hope, and determination. The day had shown that with the right support and resources, tobacco farming could transform lives and communities.

ATF4ED Patron Jimayi Muduvuri, represented by Master of Ceremonies, Josiah Chiyedzo Dimbo, was recognized in absentia, his vision for a thriving tobacco industry alive and well.

As the event came to an end, Patrick Chadzelakuka looked out over his fields, his heart full of gratitude. The day had been a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and the indomitable spirit of Zimbabwe’s farmers.
