Low key burial for Blessed ‘Bombshell’ Geza

War veteran Blessed Geza was buried today in a liw jey funeral at his home in Sanyati.

Geza, a vocal critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, died in South Africa recently after a prolonged heart illness.

His death came after a fallout with his colleagues in the ruling ZANU PF, from which he was ousted after openly challenging Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Geza had accused Mnangagwa of being captured by a clique of wealthy businessmen.

Family spokesperson Five Geza revealed that although no prominent ruling party figures attended the burial, some government officials privately offered support to the family.

Family spokesperson Five Geza said:
“We have some in government who we spoke to who consoled us. Today, no one came to the funeral but you saw the road. That may have dissuaded some from coming to the funeral.

“In short, I can say when we received the message of his death, there were some who assisted us as a family while in Harare,” said Geza.

Government officials quietly assisted with funeral arrangements for Geza, exposing apparent divisions following the death of the outspoken war veteran.

In his final years, Geza lived in exile in South Africa after falling out with senior ZANU PF officials.

His critique of President Mnangagwa clouded his liberation war credentials, as evidenced by a low-key burial in his rural home, Sanyati.

Despite the apparent snub by his former political allies, the family insisted his legacy as a liberation war veteran remains intact.

“He was a liberation war veteran but the way he lived with some of his comrades is not a secret that in the end they went their separate ways. This might have led to us where we are but we as a family had a conversation about it,” said Geza. – _*NewZimbabwe*_
