The City of Kadoma has taken a significant step toward improving its road infrastructure following the acquisition of an additional grader, a development expected to greatly enhance service delivery across Kadoma City.
The city’s road network has suffered extensive damage due to incessant rains that have pounded the area this season, leaving many roads, particularly in high-density suburbs such as Rimuka, in a deteriorated state. However, the arrival of the new grader has injected renewed hope into the city’s ongoing road maintenance programme.
Rehabilitation works have already commenced on the road leading to Rimuka, bringing relief and hope to residents who have long endured poor road conditions.
Speaking on the development, Acting Town Clerk Aaron Masembura expressed optimism that the additional machinery will significantly improve the city’s capacity to respond to infrastructure challenges.
“The acquisition of this grader comes at a crucial time when our roads have been heavily affected by persistent rains. This equipment will strengthen our road maintenance programme and enable us to respond more efficiently to the needs of our residents,” said Masembura.
Mayor Ruzario echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing council’s commitment to service delivery and infrastructure development.
“We are fully aware of the challenges our residents are facing due to damaged roads, and this grader will accelerate our efforts, starting with critical routes,” he said.
The mayor also reaffirmed the city’s long-term vision, noting that such developments align with Kadoma’s aspiration to become a smart service sanctuary by 2030.
Local resident Artwel Togarepi welcomed the swift response by the local authority, expressing relief at the commencement of rehabilitation works.
“We are grateful that the council has acted quickly. The roads had become almost impassable, especially after the rains. Seeing the grader already at work gives us confidence that things will improve,” said Togarepi.
Other council officials present to witness the arrival of the new grader included Cllr Michael Mabwe Economic Development Committee Chairperson,Cllr Benjamin Kagura Finance Committee Chairperson and Works Committee Chairperson Cllr Zivanayi Mavesere, as well as a representative from the Office of the District Development Coordinator.
The City of Kadoma continues to reaffirm its commitment to delivering improved services, with the latest acquisition marking a critical milestone in restoring the city’s road infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
