Makoni woman thoroughly beaten by neighbour…loses tooth, face disfigured, demands a cow as compensation

A MAKONI woman has been left with a disfigured face and a missing tooth after being brutally assaulted by her neighbour during the night.

Precious Nyambuya claims she was attacked by Kudzai Mupfumiri. The two parties have been embroiled in a land dispute. She has taken her case to Chief Makoni’s community court seeking compensation from Mupfumiri for the loss of the tooth and the medical expenses incurred.

Nyambuya told the court that Mupfumiri threw rocks at her house in the dead of night, damaging walls, doors and window panes.

Four stones entered her bedroom and hit her on the face, causing severe injuries. She has been left with a permanent scar and she is demanding a beast for the lost tooth and US$180 for medical expenses.

“On December 10, 2025 around midnight, I heard some noise from a person close to our house. I tried to awaken my husband, who was fast asleep. The person entered our gate and violently knocked saying my husband should come out.

““Stones started raining on the house hitting the door, window panes and the roof.

“The attacks moved to the bedroom windows and the stones entered the room. I was hit on the face and fell off from the bed.”

She added: “I was hit on the mouth by a stone and my face was cut by the glass pieces.

“There were four large stones in the house.

“I lost one tooth during the attack and two others were affected and are now loose. I bled profusely and lost consciousness

“The person did not stop throwing the stones. My husband peeped through the curtain and saw Kudzai. He asked him why he was doing that. Kudzai just clapped his hands and ran away.”

She said the attacker’s brother then sent her US$10 through Ecocash.

“For the tooth that I lost during the attack, I want to be compensated by a beast and I also incurred transport costs and damages on my windows and curtains, which is US$180.

“Kudzai is not a mentally challenged person as he is a well-educated person. What I know is that he drinks beer but he cannot be classified as a drunkard.” Mupfumiri pleaded guilty to the offence and begged for forgiveness.

“What has been said is true. After that happened I helped her with US$10 but I could not directly engage with her since I was wrong.

“My parents begged for forgiveness on my behalf. The village head promised to solve the matter but I was surprised when police came to arrest me.

“I served my sentence of 140 hours of community service which I completed.

“Now I am surprised to receive summons to appear before this court. I am very sorry for what I did,” said Mupfumiri.
