G&T coach Ikabort Masocha heaved a sigh of relief after leading his team to a 3-1 victory in a Northern Region Soccer League match at Pfupajena Stadium.

After a lukewarm first half that ended 1-1, Masocha made tactical substitutions that shifted the game in their favour.

G&T Mining goalie Tendai Chirara scored from the penalty spot to put the gold hunters ahead in the early stages of the game but his joy was short-lived as Banket United equalised 7 minutes later

Bulky- built Crynedge Denhere rose from the bench in the second half and let loose a brilliant long-range shot that nestled in the back net before another substitute, Benview Muzenda beat a drawn-out Banket goalie and accurately rolled the ball into an empty net.

The outcome, a first league win for G&T, excited Masocha as G&T was searching for a winning formula after a defeat to Pams in the opening match

“The win was a huge relief to the team. I’m excited that we grabbed the valuable points we were looking for”

“However, while celebrating victory, the general performance of the team was not as I expected but coming from a loss in the last game, I’m hoping this is the beginning of the winning ways that we anticipate ” said Masocha
