Uncle from hell… Man’s 18-year homecoming ends in 20-year jail term as he rapes his sister’s 6-year-old daughter
A Botswana-based beast who returned home after 18 years only to ruin his six-year-old niece’s life is going to rot in jail!
The 46-year-old accused, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, was slapped with a heavy 20-year sentence after he sexually abused the little girl under his own sister’s roof.
To make matters worse, the heartless monster is HIV positive and didn’t care about the risk he was putting the child in.
The court heard a story of ultimate betrayal.
After nearly two decades away in Botswana, the man’s sister opened her Cowdray Park home and her heart to him, giving him a place to sleep.
But instead of being grateful, he turned into a predator the moment the lights went out.
While the mom slept, the girl went to the bathroom at midnight. When she came back to her blankets on the floor, her uncle — who was supposed to be sleeping on the sofa — crept toward her. The court heard his chilling command to the innocent child: “Don’t put on your panties.”
The brave mother rushed in after hearing strange groans, only to find her biological brother naked and scrambling out of the child’s blankets.
“I feared for my daughter’s life since he is HIV positive,” the devastated mum told the court.
She revealed that while condoms were found on the floor, none were used. The thought that her own flesh and blood could infect her baby has left her shattered.
Bulawayo regional magistrate Mark Dzira didn’t hold back when sentencing the man. He called the man an “ungrateful person” who spat in the face of his sister’s kindness.
“The mother offered him shelter after not seeing him since 2007, and this is how he repays her,” the magistrate said.
The magistrate slammed the uncle, noting that he fully knew his HIV status but didn’t care about the deadly risk he was forcing on the child. He clearly planned the sick attack by telling the little girl not to dress, and while the physical wounds might heal, the court ruled that the trauma inflicted on both the mother and the child is permanent.
Although the medical report showed no full penetration, the magistrate ruled that the invasion of the child’s body was “appalling” and “traumatising.”
The predator pleaded guilty and tried to apologise to his sister, but it was too little, too late. He is now swapping his sister’s sofa for a cold prison cell for the next two decades.
The State was being represented by Hazel Ncube. *_-H-Metro_*
