Eastview Horror: Two Children Die After Father Sets Home On Fire
Two young children, aged three and six, died after they were allegedly trapped inside a burning cabin house in Eastview Phase 10, Mabvuku, on Monday, 20 July 2026, in a suspected case of filicide.
Their 24-year-old father is accused of setting the house alight following an alleged domestic dispute with their mother before seriously injuring himself. Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
ZBC News reports that the two children were burnt beyond recognition after the blaze engulfed the family home.
The publication said the children’s father, Gift Muyengwa (24), allegedly argued with his wife, Tsitsi Zuze (22), over an undisclosed matter shortly before the fire.
According to ZBC News:
“Gift Muyengwa (24) allegedly had a misunderstanding with his wife, Tsitsi Zuze (22), over an undisclosed matter before the incident.”
The publication further reported that Muyengwa allegedly attacked his wife before setting the cabin house on fire.
“Muyengwa is alleged to have stabbed Zuze before setting the cabin house on fire. He allegedly then turned the knife on himself, sustaining severe injuries that exposed his intestines.”
Couple Fighting For Their Lives At Parirenyatwa Hospital
According to ZBC News, both Muyengwa and Zuze were rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, where they remain hospitalised with severe injuries.
Separately, information circulating on Monday stated that the children were aged three and six and that the incident happened in Eastview Phase 10.
Police have since launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Eastview community as investigators work to establish exactly what happened.
